About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineering Leader to join our team at Amazon Data Services Canada, Inc. As a Data Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for mentoring and leading engineers, guiding the team towards best data development practices, and defining the priorities and vision of the group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of data systems that simplify bringing new models to customers and enhance the visibility into our underlying modeling process.
  • Collaborate with Product and SDE teams to build data products incrementally and integrate and manage data sets from multiple sources.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers for best practices on data engineering.
  • Familiarity with data architectures built on AWS services, such as Redshift, Glue, S3, Step Functions.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence or business analytics experience.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence.
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with big data technologies such as: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, EMR.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting protocols such as GHG Protocol.
