About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Solutions Expert to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our technology team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality solutions that meet the needs of our customers and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Technical Expertise: You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams, including business partners, architects, and developers, to design and implement solutions for new projects and features.
  2. Problem-Solving: You will troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement fixes to ensure the stability and performance of our systems.
  3. Leadership: You will lead a team of developers to deliver high-quality solutions, coordinate with multiple teams, and manage the overall delivery process.
  4. Business Acumen: You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their requirements.
  5. Technical Skills: You will have strong knowledge of FIS Profile Tool, FIS Database (MUMPS), UNIX/LINUX (AIX platform), SQL, and Database connectivity (JDBC, JTDC).
  6. Agile Methodologies: You will have experience with Agile principles and be able to adapt to new and evolving environments.
  7. Collaboration: You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including business, QA, PM, and development teams.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of hands-on technical experience in software development and supporting complex large-scale customer-facing platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Java 8/Spring, API information technology principles, and system integration methodologies and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Financial banking experience (preferably in the mortgage area) is required.
  • Strong experience using Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, and other collaboration tools.
