About the Role

The Regina Police Service seeks a highly skilled High-Stakes Mental Health Specialist to join our Integrated Health & Wellness team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a registered doctoral psychologist to make a meaningful impact in the mental health and wellbeing of first responders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the Mental Health Strategy, ensuring its effectiveness in supporting the psychological health and resilience of service members.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for new recruits and provide recommendations for their suitability for the role.
  • Perform annual wellness checks to monitor the mental health and wellbeing of employees.
  • Collaborate with the Critical Incident Stress Management team to provide critical incident stress debriefings and follow-up support to affected members.
  • Foster partnerships with external mental health professionals and organizations to enhance the service's mental health programming and initiatives.
  • Drive program evaluation activities to inform improvements to the service's mental health strategies and initiatives.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Integrated Health & Wellness Manager.

Requirements:

  • Registration as a Doctoral Psychologist with the SK College of Psychologists (or eligible for registration) with APE endorsement.
  • A PhD in Clinical Psychology or a recognized equivalent from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of four to six years of related experience in clinical psychology, preferably working with first responders.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based assessments and treatments for operational stress injuries and post-traumatic stress disorders.
  • Experience with validated psychological assessment tools for pre-employment evaluations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in communicating complex mental health concepts to diverse audiences.
