Director, Portfolio Management and Analytics

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director to lead our Portfolio Management and Analytics team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving strategic recommendations and insights to inform business decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Portfolio Monitoring and Analysis: Monitor RESL portfolio indicators, assess performance, and collaborate with senior management to establish recommendations based on data-driven observations and analyses.
- Risk Management and Strategy: Lead sensitivity analyses to assess performance benchmarks against various external environments, and lead cross-functional teams to establish scenario frameworks and readiness playbooks.
- Senior Executive Support: Provide senior executive support for performance trending across portfolio, and prepare strategic communication materials for senior leadership meetings.
- Competitive Research and Benchmarking: Conduct competitive and business environment research and benchmarking to identify emerging issues and trends, and assess their impact on our business.
- Credit Risk Management: Measure and monitor credit score and policy changes across the credit life cycle, with a focus on autonomous analysis of the risk-return trade-off.
- Customer Vulnerability Frameworks: Triangulate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to define customer vulnerability frameworks, and establish integrated performance benchmarks.
- Portfolio Monitoring and Account Management: Collaborate with GRM colleagues to improve portfolio monitoring and account management capabilities through integration of new models and frameworks.
- Strategic Planning and Risk Management: Assist in the annual strategic planning process through thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk-related metrics, based on business objectives and growth plans.
- Retail Credit Risk Initiatives: Lead analyses and strategy development for Retail Credit Risk initiatives related to Capital optimization and Risk Adjusted Return on Capital.
- Data Analysis and Insights: Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis on complex datasets to inform risk decisions.
- Education: University degree in a relevant STEM discipline or a master's degree in business, statistics, economics, mathematics, management sciences, or analytics.
- Experience: 10 years of relevant work experience in credit risk and analytics.
- Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to manage ambiguity, strategic orientation, innovative and integrative acumen, strong analytical skills, and ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor performance.
- Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership and social skills that facilitate an effective team environment, excellent executive communication and storyboarding skills, and ability to effectively manage relationships across the Bank.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with demonstrated ability to make decisions in a time-pressured environment.
