About the Role:

The University of Toronto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development and Partnerships Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Co-op Program Development and Employer Engagement team, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners and employers to support the growth and success of our co-op programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement business development strategies to identify and engage new industry partners and employers, with a focus on strategic growth and partnership expansion.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing industry partners and employers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to inform program and partnership development, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Develop and execute event activities, including conferences, workshops, and networking events, to promote our co-op programs and build relationships with industry partners and employers.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with industry associations, sectoral councils, and other professional bodies to support the growth and success of our co-op programs.
  • Track and analyze business development initiatives, activities, and outcomes, providing regular reports and insights to inform decision-making.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a partnership development, sales, or business development role, with a proven track record of success in a target-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding and experience implementing partnership development life cycle, business development, and sales funnel approaches, with a focus on tracking activities to desired outcomes.
  • Experience in planning and implementing online and in-person events, with a focus on lead generation and relationship building.
  • Experience in market research and analysis, with a focus on identifying target markets and direct sales and relationship development.
  • Motivated through individual planning and target achievement, with a strong ability to thrive in a collaborative team-based environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to speak to and lead targeted group presentations.
  • Good judgement, tact, and discretion, with the ability to resolve issues, problems, and competing goals.
  • Organized, with the ability to prioritize work and multi-task to facilitate a balance of planned execution and adherence to process while ensuring an efficient pace.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills, with a strong emphasis on influencing skills.

  • Experience in marketing, developing marketing strategies, and promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of the career services industry and experience working within post-secondary industry.
