Payroll Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Randstad Canada. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing bi-weekly and weekly payroll for over 300 employees accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify and reconcile timecards to ensure accuracy of hours worked, overtime, and paid time off.
  • Calculate and process adjustments, including bonuses, commissions, and other compensation elements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local payroll tax regulations, including withholding and reporting requirements.
  • Generate payroll reports and provide insights to management on payroll metrics, trends, and costs.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and earnings statements.
  • Collaborate with HR to onboard new employees and ensure accurate setup in the payroll system.
  • Assist with year-end payroll processes, including T4 preparation and distribution.
  • Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risk.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.
Requirements:
  • PC or PLP designation preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Canadian payroll experience is required.
  • Experience with ADP products is a great asset.
  • Experience working with unionized employees is a great asset.
