The Saffron Indian Restaurant & Bar is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef to join our team. This is a permanent position, working 40 hours per week in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Job Summary

We are looking for a talented chef with expertise in East Indian cuisine to manage our kitchen operations, develop new menu ideas, and maintain the high quality of our dishes. The successful candidate will have excellent cooking skills, be able to work well under pressure, and demonstrate strong leadership qualities.

Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role

The Executive Chef will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen activities, including food preparation, presentation, and service. They will also be expected to train staff in food preparation, handling, and presentation.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Create menus and specials that showcase our East Indian cuisine expertise
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items
  • Oversee food preparation, presentation, and service standards
  • Train staff in food preparation, handling, and presentation
  • Maintain kitchen inventory, order supplies, and equipment as needed
  • Clean and maintain kitchen and work areas to ensure high hygiene standards
  • Manage kitchen operations, including staffing, scheduling, and budgeting

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in a similar role, excellent communication and leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in a senior culinary role
  • Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of East Indian cuisine
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced kitchen environment with high levels of noise and heat. You will be required to wear a uniform and follow health and safety guidelines at all times.
