We are seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Health Care Social Worker, you will provide a range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting psychosocial assessments and providing adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counselling, resource counselling, and discharge planning and case management.
- Advocating, educating, and collaborating with individuals and groups within the institution and community.
- Working autonomously and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care.
You will be a licensed professional who practices in accordance with National/Provincial Standards and Code of Ethics and Department Procedures, Policies and Standards.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with:
- A Master of Social Work Degree from an accredited university.
- Current registration and membership in the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers and Canadian Association of Social Workers.
- Two years of clinical experience as a Registered Social Worker.
- Strong counselling and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of issues related to family violence, sexual abuse, addictions, grief and loss, end of life, disability, crisis intervention, caregiving, and continuum of care.

Hours and CompensationThis is a long-assignment full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $37.31 - $49.05. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
