About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. The successful candidate will work with children and adolescents up to the 19th birthday, providing assessment and treatment for mental health or concurrent disorders.

The Social Worker will work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team, including psychology, social work, psychiatry, addiction clinical therapists, and behavioral interventionists. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical social work, with experience in assessment, intervention, and research.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and providing evidence-based educational presentations to clients, families, other agencies, and fellow staff members on topics relating to mental health and concurrent disorders. Evening and daytime hours, as well as travel, are required for this role.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's of Social Work with a specialization in a clinical or mental health stream. The ideal candidate will have two years of clinical experience in an inpatient/outpatient mental health setting, providing independent assessment and treatment of adult mental health disorders.

The successful candidate will possess strong assessment, intervention, and research skills, as well as specialized knowledge of acute and persistent mental illness and concurrent disorders. Competence in evidenced-based interventions, such as CBT, and risk assessment is also required.

Hours and Compensation

This is a long-assignment full-time position, with 75 hours biweekly. The successful candidate will be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.

The hourly rate for this position is $37.31 - $49.04, with the possibility of a signing bonus and relocation assistance for the right candidate.
