About the Role:


We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Equipment Specialist to join our team in Sydney, NS. In this role, you will be responsible for performing thorough examinations, rebuilding, repair, service, and maintenance of specialized healthcare equipment such as wheelchairs.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Perform detailed inspections and assessments of healthcare equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Conduct repairs, maintenance, and modifications to healthcare equipment as required.
  • Maintain accurate records of loaned equipment, returns, inventory, statistics, and equipment repairs in accordance with program procedures and policies.
  • Collaborate with occupational therapists and supervisors to complete loan agreements and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
  • Support the community health program with cleaning and disinfecting tasks, as well as maintenance of equipment as required.
  • Assist technical staff with various responsibilities within the workshop environment.


Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driver's abstract.
  • Able to lift heavy objects (up to 100lbs).
  • Experience working in a work order shop environment is an asset.
  • Previous WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training is considered an asset.


Working Conditions:


This role requires eligibility to work in Canada and a successful Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC) is mandatory.



Compensation and Benefits:


We offer a competitive salary range of $37,649 - $47,061 per year, commensurate with experience, plus benefits including a comprehensive health and dental plan, group RRSP pension plan, and paid vacation time.
