About the Opportunity

The University of Alberta Hospital, a leading clinical, research, and teaching hospital in Canada, seeks an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their critical care team. With over 700,000 patients treated annually, this dynamic environment offers unparalleled learning opportunities.

This position will support patients within the General Systems ICU and Burns service area, providing evidence-informed services that focus on occupational performance. As a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate, you will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful occupations.

Your role will involve comprehensive services, including triage, screening, consultation, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders. You will work closely with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance services for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-informed services to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities.
  • Act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate.
  • Engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful occupations.
  • Support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence.
  • Collaborate with clients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
  • Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in critical care, grafts, and wound care is highly recommended.
  • Experience in trauma care, splinting, pressure injury management is also beneficial.
  • Recent acute care experience in adults is required.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $83,094 - $119,683 per year, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include:
