Occupational Therapist I

At Alberta Health Services, we are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team as a Critical Care Specialist. This role will provide opportunities to work with patients who require critical care services, including those with acute thermal injuries.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing evidence-informed occupational therapy services to individuals, groups, or communities in need of rehabilitation. This will involve working collaboratively with healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans that promote optimum functional abilities and independence.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct service provision, consultation, education, and advocacy to support clients in achieving their occupational goals.
- Engage in triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, prevention, self-management, education, case management, referral, transition support, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with clients and families to determine, implement, and evaluate rehabilitation plans.
- Participate in interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich support, and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program.
- Registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
- Experience in critical care, grafts, and wound care is highly recommended.
- Recent acute care experience in adults is required.
- Strong judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective teaching skills for students and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Prior experience with complex patient populations, such as chronic disease management, pulmonary, and end-of-life care, would be an asset. Familiarity with electronic medical records, such as Netcare and Connect Care, is also preferred.
CompensationThe estimated annual salary for this position is $83,500-$114,000 based on location and experience.
