Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time

We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, a large teaching hospital with a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will be primarily based on one of the acute care units and responsible for providing comprehensive assessment, consultation, and treatment programs for patients within various programs.

You must have the ability to collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to provide effective patient care and appropriate discharge planning, which is an essential part of this role. Our Occupational Therapists work and learn in a variety of clinical areas, including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, and arthroplasty.

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Rehabilitation Department strives to provide excellent patient-centered care through ongoing mentorship, education, and implementation of evidence-informed and best practice strategies. Our mentorship program includes supplemental educational opportunities throughout the first year of employment, as well as buddying new employees with experienced team members.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide evidence-informed services with a focus on occupational performance designed to meet the needs of individuals, groups, or communities. You may act as a direct service provider, consultant, educator, or advocate and function as an integral healthcare team member.

You will engage individuals, groups, and communities to enable meaningful and chosen occupations, including self-care, productivity, and leisure. You will support clients to achieve optimum functional abilities and independence related to their cognitive, affective, spiritual, and physical strengths and limitations.

To succeed in this role, you will require completion of a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT). Heart and Stroke CPR (BLS-HCP) certification is also required.

A minimum of 1-year recent experience in an adult inpatient acute care setting is preferred, along with strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Experience working successfully as part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team is also required.

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your annual salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

We encourage healthy lifestyles by providing secure bike storage, a Light Rail Transit Station, a Fitness Centre, and other wellness activities. The Royal Alexandra Hospital provides a diverse and inclusive work environment, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
