About the Role

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a highly skilled Senior Labour Relations Specialist to join our team. This role will support the development, implementation and evaluation of effective labour relations strategies.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have an undergraduate degree in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business or equivalent related experience. A Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is also an asset.

You will have at least 5-7 years of experience as a labour relations specialist in a highly unionized environment, with strong mediation skills and business acumen. Experience in acute care and teaching healthcare environments is considered an asset.

As a Senior Labour Relations Specialist, you will provide expert advice on both union and non-union issues, including coordination of non-union terminations and oversight on severances related to common law analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and promote positive, interest-based union relationships on behalf of Hamilton Health Sciences
  • Chair Labour Management Committees and support negotiations with respective unions
  • Develop and execute employee and labour relations strategies to support the interests of Hamilton Health Sciences
  • Engage in creative problem-solving to develop effective strategies and solutions in support of operational initiatives and challenges
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate comprehensive education and development programs to stakeholders within the organization
  • Support and participate in employee and labour relations strategic projects
  • Represent Hamilton Health Sciences with counsel in external litigation

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business or equivalent related experience
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is an asset
  • At least 5-7 years of experience as a labour relations specialist in a highly unionized environment
  • Strong mediation skills and business acumen

Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per year
