Health Association Nova Scotia is partnering with the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care to provide recruitment support to continuing care employers in the province.
The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded professional, pursuing a challenging career with opportunities to grow and make a real difference in the lives of seniors. This role involves providing care to individuals in long-term care facilities and home nursing settings.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a wide range of resident care functions, working collaboratively with the Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care. This includes assisting clients with daily living activities, using lifts and slings to transfer patients, administering medication, and performing light housekeeping tasks.
The LPN also plays a leadership role, supervising Continuing Care Attendants/Personal Care Workers and facilitating community inclusion activities. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have current licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses or be eligible for licensure.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with personal care activities
- Transfer patients using lifts and slings
- Administer medication as required
- Perform nighttime monitoring and assistance
- Complete light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, washing dishes, and cleaning surfaces
- Prepare blenderized feeds for clients as needed
- Accompany clients on outings in the community
- Facilitate community inclusion activities
