About the Role

The Occupational Therapist is a key member of the healthcare team at Nova Scotia Health. Working under the supervision of the Health Services Manager, the Occupational Therapist collaborates with clients, caregivers, and families to facilitate, restore, and maintain optimal levels of function in self-care, productivity, and leisure. This involves providing consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up services in various settings, including hospitals, homes, and communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals in collaboration with clients and families
  • Manage a busy caseload and prioritize issues using clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Provide education and support to clients, families, and caregivers
  • Function as a member of the occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Contribute to the clinical education of occupational therapy students and related health disciplines
Requirements
  • Graduate of a C.A.O.T recognized School of Occupational Therapy
  • Licensed with College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia (COTNS)
  • Two years relevant experience required
  • Maintain current certification in CPR
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
