Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Food Service Supervisor to join our team at Farm Boy. As a key member of our department team, you will be responsible for assisting the Department Manager in achieving company, store, and department goals. Your primary focus will be on providing exceptional customer service, supervising department staff, and ensuring a high level of quality and cleanliness in our store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Provide superior customer service and support Farm Boy's vision of the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Department Supervision
    • Supervise department staff and provide floor support, including delegating tasks, breaks, and ensuring readiness for business and operations.
  • Quality and Cleanliness
    • Ensure a high level of quality and cleanliness in the department, including preparing, packaging, pricing, and rotating food products in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Training and Development
    • Assist with the training of new team members as required.
  • Coaching and Communication
    • Provide coaching and maintain a high level of confidentiality and trust.
  • Department Service Assessments
    • Assist with the completion of department service assessments.
  • Inventory Management
    • Receive and accurately store department orders.
  • Financial Management
    • Review and verify department invoices for accuracy.
  • Store Operations
    • Responsible for resetting the department for the closing team and ensuring the department is ready for business.
  • Communication
    • Effectively communicate corporate and department information, changes, and updates.
  • Customer Engagement
    • Have a passion for food and knowledgeably handle all customer questions or comments confidently.
  • Service Standards
    • Utilize Farm Boy Service Standards to welcome, greet, and offer customer assistance as required.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires partial completion of a post-secondary program, plus a minimum of 1 year of progressively responsible experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Superior customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear and effective communication style, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work with little supervision with a high standard for quality, attention to detail, and cleanliness.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.

Work and Sensory Environment

  • Required to stand for long periods of time during shift.
  • Required to lift, carry, or handle heavy objects.
  • May be required to perform repetitive and/or precise hand/finger movements.
  • Required to adapt to temperature changes on occasion (working on the retail floor as well as in coolers, freezers, and outside).
