Job Description

The University of Niagara Falls Canada is seeking a skilled Financial Aid Coordinator to join our Office of the Registrar team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in promoting and supporting our institution's strategic plan by connecting undergraduate and graduate students with government aid.

This dynamic role requires analysis and reasoning skills, as well as excellent interpersonal abilities to review student cases and propose effective solutions to any issues that may arise. You will work closely with students, analyzing how university, ministry, and stakeholder policies interact with their ability to obtain and sustain funding.

In this role, you will:

  • Determine scholarship, award, and financial opportunity allocations based on available funding, student enrollment levels, and application numbers.
  • Analyze policies and identify potential issues, developing creative solutions to support students.
  • Develop customized strategies to help students overcome financial obstacles.
  • Interview students regarding financial issues, family history, personal choices, academic performance, and assess and evaluate the information provided.
  • Provide confidential advice to students on course and program requirements, family and status changes, academic performance, income, and the impact on aid and award eligibility.
  • Respond to inquiries received via various channels, providing students with information on aid and award terms, eligibility requirements, and applications.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Ability to interpret and apply university and government policies and regulations.
  • Intermediate-level skills in using standard computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • A minimum two-year post-secondary credential in Business, International Business, International Relations, Office Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered).
  • Basic training in office practices, customer service, and communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience using student information systems and related software, such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce, is considered an asset.
