Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Loans and Financial Assistance Coordinator to join our Office of the Registrar team. This role is responsible for connecting students with government aid, entrance awards, and scholarships to make post-secondary education more accessible.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement programs to assist students in obtaining and managing their resources throughout their academic journey.
  • Cycle through each aid and award program, developing detailed action plans and coordinating with multiple stakeholders and external agencies.
  • Determine the allocation of scholarships, awards, and financial opportunities based on available funding, student enrollment levels, and application numbers.
  • Analyze how University, Ministry, and stakeholder policies interact with a student's ability to obtain and sustain funding, identifying potential issues and developing solutions.
  • Conduct analyses to determine the most effective financial assistance options available to students, developing customized strategies to help them overcome financial obstacles.
  • Interview students regarding financial issues, family history, personal choices, and academic performance, assessing and evaluating the information provided.
  • Adjudicate applications, determining students' eligibility for aid and awards based on mathematical need calculations, merit, and non-merit-based criteria, as well as supporting documentation and program eligibility criteria.
Requirements
  • Minimum two-year post-secondary credential in Business, International Business, International Relations, Office Administration, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Three years of experience working in a Registrar department, with demonstrated knowledge of education systems and credential assessment.
  • Excellent communication, organization skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated self-starter ability to work with minimal supervision, along with basic training in office practices, customer service, and communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Experience using student information systems and related software, such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce, is considered a strong asset.
Estimated Salary Range

$60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
