Job Summary

We are seeking a Student Financial Aid Coordinator to join our Office of the Registrar team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting and supporting the university's strategic plan by connecting undergraduate and graduate students with government aid, including OSAP, entrance awards, and scholarships.

This role requires analysis and reasoning skills, as well as interpersonal skills to review student cases and propose solutions to any issues that may arise. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of university, ministry, and stakeholder policies and their impact on student funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine the number of scholarships, awards, and financial opportunities to allocate based on available funding and student enrollment levels
  • Analyze how university, ministry, and stakeholder policies interact with student funding and identify potential issues and develop solutions
  • Develop customized strategies to help students overcome financial obstacles
  • Interview students regarding financial issues, family history, personal choices, and academic issues
  • Provide confidential advice to students regarding course and program requirements, family and status changes, academic performance, and income
Requirements
  • A minimum of a 2-year post-secondary credential in Business, International Business, International Relations, Office Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and email
  • Ability to interpret and apply university and government policies and regulations
  • Experience using student information systems and related software, such as Banner, Colleague, PeopleSoft, and Salesforce
