At Intact, we're seeking a highly skilled Compliance and Privacy Lawyer to join our team on a 12-month contract basis. As a key member of our compliance team, you'll play a critical role in supporting our organization's commitment to regulatory compliance and data privacy.

As a Compliance and Privacy Lawyer, you'll be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on compliance and privacy-related matters, including regulatory engagement, reporting, and risk assessments. You'll also lead and oversee compliance and privacy training and awareness initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and support stakeholders in the investigation, management, and resolution of compliance and privacy incidents and breaches.

We're looking for a seasoned professional with 5-8 years of experience in compliance or privacy law, preferably in a large in-house department or insurance brokerage. You'll need excellent drafting, negotiation, training, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage files independently with minimal support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance and privacy-related matters
  • Lead and oversee compliance and privacy training and awareness initiatives
  • Conduct risk assessments and support stakeholders in the investigation, management, and resolution of compliance and privacy incidents and breaches
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices

Requirements:

  • Member of the Law Society of Ontario
  • 5-8 years of experience in compliance or privacy law
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, training, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage files independently with minimal support
  • Sound judgment and the ability to assess the practical implications of legal risks
