Key Responsibilities
  • We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to join our team, reporting to the HR Director. This role will focus on providing consultation to the business on strategic planning and employment related issues, while developing and managing human resources programs and procedures for departmental development with our Joint Venture projects.
  • The successful candidate will be skilled in communicating to inform, influence, and explain across a wide range of levels and audiences within the organization, and at times may facilitate difficult conversations.
What You'll Do:Workforce Planning
  • The Human Resources Business Partner will perform workforce planning activities, including creating project mobilization/demobilization plans, employee rotation, and succession planning, leveraging data and analytics to inform decisions.
  • This role will also involve building strong relationships with HR counterparts on JVs to ensure ongoing collaboration and effective support of Aecon's seconded employees.
Disability Management
  • The successful candidate will educate the employee on the process, benefit entitlements, and maintain regular communication.
  • They will also educate business leaders on the disability program and policies, updating them on open cases and providing recommendations on potential next steps.
Employee Relations
  • The Human Resources Business Partner will manage situation/conflict effectively, working closely with managers and Project HR to ensure employee relations issues are handled professionally and timely, minimizing risks to the business.
  • They will proactively outreach on HR communications, coach managers and employees on performance management, and prepare Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as necessary.
Talent Management
  • The successful candidate will provide advice, council, and feedback on performance management strategy, ensuring business needs and individual objectives are linked.
  • They will also facilitate training or in-house learning sessions for managers and employees as required, ensuring training needs are evaluated and appropriate training is selected and rolled out.
Corporate Programs
  • The Human Resources Business Partner will support the roll-out of various corporate and UTS specific initiatives as required.
  • They will participate in new/developing HR initiatives as required, such as the Performance Management Team.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role.
  • Post-secondary school education in Human Resources Management or Business Administration.
  • Working towards the CHRL designation, or completed CHRL designation is an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Previous ERP experience, particularly working experience with SAP, considered an asset.
  • Solid working knowledge of major elements of Human Resources and its systems and processes.

The estimated salary for this role is between $80,000-$120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
