Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority. As a key member of our crisis response center, you will provide treatment services to individuals, couples, and families affected by addiction and mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake and assessment, counselling, referrals, case management, and educational sessions for clients.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, and provide continuing care services to support clients in their recovery journey.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and client-centered approach to care.
  • Provide support and guidance to clients, families, and caregivers to promote healthy coping mechanisms and resilience.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in addiction and mental health counselling.
Requirements
  • Minimum of one year supervised counselling experience from a family systems perspective.
  • Experience working from a client-centered perspective and utilizing Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Training and/or experience in developing, planning, preparing, and facilitating educational material and services.
  • Knowledge of the addictions and mental health fields, and ability to work within a complex system of services.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead training sessions as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in the addictions field.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and languages (Ojibway and Cree).
  • Fluency in French.
