Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at St Raphael Wellness Centre (SRWC). As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting women in their recovery journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement personalized recovery plans, focusing on relapse prevention techniques and strategies.
  2. Facilitate psycho-education groups, utilizing instructional techniques to promote participant engagement and understanding.
  3. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive support for participants' recovery journeys.
  4. Monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, providing crisis intervention and support when needed.
  5. Advocate specifically around the reunification process with Child and Family Services, ensuring a smooth transition process.
  6. Engage in outreach and partnership activities with various organizations, including the justice system, Employee Assistance Programs, and community services.
  7. Manage referrals to and from these organizations, ensuring a seamless transition process.
  8. Maintain accurate and confidential participant records, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or a relevant discipline.
  2. Certification as an Addiction Counsellor is preferred, but not required.
  3. A combination of a relevant certificate and experience in the field will be considered.
  4. Knowledge and experience in facilitating psycho-education groups and instructional techniques.
  5. Specific experience in advocating for the reunification process with Child and Family Services.
  6. Strong understanding of the Continuum of Recovery and Stages of Change Models.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Strong advocacy skills and knowledge of available resources within the community.
  9. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  10. Compassionate and non-judgmental approach.
  11. Knowledge of Indigenous cultures and ceremonies is considered an asset.
