Job Title: Rehabilitation Counsellor

Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our team at the Indigenous-led RAAM Clinic. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide long-term case management, systems navigation, and counselling services to individuals who are no longer in crisis but still in need of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide intake and assessment, counselling, referrals, educational sessions, and development of treatment plans for concerns related to addiction, alcohol, and drug use.
  • Work collaboratively with the RAAM team and other allied health professionals to support a collaborative care model.
  • Document all pertinent information in a clear and concise manner and in accordance with required format, policies, and legal guidelines.
  • Facilitate problem-solving techniques with clients and support a judgement-free, shame-free environment focused on harm-reduction and the journey of healing.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a recognized degree or diploma from a University or Community College program in Social Services or a related health discipline.
  • Minimum six months working with individuals and families who are managing addiction.
  • Minimum of two years' mental health experience at the para-professional level, providing support services to adults with addiction and mental illness.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mental Health First Aide and ASIST certificates or willingness to obtain.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.
  • Computer skills including Internet and Microsoft Programs (Word, Outlook).
