REHABILITATION COUNSELLOR
Department: Indigenous-led Rapid Access to Addictions Medicine (RAAM) Clinic

Site: Aboriginal Health & Wellness Centre of Winnipeg, Inc. (AHWC) in the Neeginan Centre

Reports to: Director of RAAM

Status: 1.0 FTE

Hours of Operation: 11-7 weekdays; 9-4:30pm Saturdays

Union: Manitoba Association of Healthcare Professionals (MAHCP)

Salary: $$ $40.296/hour

Term Date: Coverage for Indefinite Leave

JOB OVERVIEW
The Rehabilitation Counsellor is responsible for delivering comprehensive case management, systems navigation, and therapeutic support for clients visiting the Indigenous-led RAAM Clinic. The role emphasizes intake assessments, counseling, referrals, educational initiatives, and the development of treatment strategies addressing the impacts of addiction.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of a degree in Social Services
  • At least six months of experience working with individuals dealing with addiction

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of two years of mental health experience at a paraprofessional level
  • Understanding of addiction and mental health issues
  • Familiarity with Mental Health Programs and Services

SPECIAL TRAINING

  • Certification in Mental Health First Aid and ASIST
  • Basic computer proficiency and knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

  • Collaborate with relevant services and organizations
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client information and offer practical guidance

  • Offer recommendations and referrals based on evidence-based practices
