Job Summary

FortisBC is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team for an 8-month term. As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will have the opportunity to engage with engineers, managers, and other departments, gaining a deeper understanding of the workings within the operating and engineering groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and operate natural gas facilities and pipelines, including stress analysis and equipment sizing and selection.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to complete capital projects.
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports and proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Research and develop design standards.
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance with company and industry codes and standards.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a Mechanical focus, preferably in the third or fourth year.
  • Participating in a Co-op program.
  • Valid driver's license and current abstract.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Passion for the energy industry and the utility world.
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications.
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment.
