Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op student to join our team at FortisBC. As a Mechanical/Chemical Engineering Co-op, you will have the opportunity to work on various project-related assignments, including design and operation of the gas system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design natural gas facilities and pipelines, including stress analysis and equipment sizing and selection
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders and team members to complete capital projects
  • Perform engineering assessments, identify opportunities and deficiencies, and complete written reports/proposals for existing and proposed infrastructure
  • Research and develop design standards
  • Recommend process improvements and ensure compliance to company and industry codes and standards

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program with a Mechanical or Chemical focus, preferably in the third or fourth year
  • Enrolled in a Co-op program
  • Valid driver's license and current abstract

Preferred Qualifications

  • A passion for the energy industry and the utility world
  • Experience or knowledge with CAD applications
  • Experience with interpreting mechanical and P&ID drawings of piping systems
  • A knack for public speaking
  • Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with report and memo writing in a corporate environment
