About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Equine Care Specialist to join our team at Fairway Farms Ltd. As a key member of our farm team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our horses, ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Animal Care: Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas, and develop specific plans to prioritize tasks.
  • Disinfection and Sanitation: Disinfect pens, barns, or poultry houses to maintain a clean and healthy environment for our animals.
  • Horse Grooming: Groom horses in preparation for competitions and shows, and perform animal grooming activities to ensure their overall health and well-being.
  • Feeding and Tending: Feed and tend animals, including livestock feeding, and assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Set and monitor water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops, and perform general farm duties.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain work records and logs to track progress and ensure compliance with regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: Will train.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Environment: Outdoors, dusty, hot, noisy, odours, wet/damp, cold/refrigerated, horse breeding, all weather conditions, dirty.
  • Work Setting: Rural area.
  • Transportation: Valid driver's license.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to work independently, work under pressure, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, attention to detail, handling heavy loads, combination of sitting, standing, walking, large workload, hand-eye coordination, ability to distinguish between colours, sound discrimination, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent oral communication, organized, team player, efficient interpersonal skills, flexibility, judgement, reliability, quick learner.
