Job Title: Equine Care Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Equine Care Specialist to join our team at Fairway Farms Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing top-notch care to our horses, ensuring their health and well-being in a fast-paced rural environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
  • Develop specific plans to prioritize tasks and ensure efficient use of time
  • Disinfect pens, barns, or poultry houses to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Groom horses in preparation for competitions and shows, paying attention to detail and ensuring their overall health and well-being
  • Handle animals with care and compassion, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
  • Organize tasks to accomplish the work, prioritizing efficiency and effectiveness
  • Perform animal grooming activities, including feeding, tending, and caring for horses
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures to ensure a safe working environment
  • Train horses to ensure they are well-behaved and responsive to commands
  • Clean stables, barns, barnyards, and pens to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Maintain work records and logs to track progress and identify areas for improvement
  • Perform general farm duties, including setting and monitoring water lines, air flow, and temperature in barns, pens, and chicken coops
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Organized and efficient in work habits
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Physically demanding work, requiring standing, walking, and lifting
  • Ability to distinguish between colors and sound discrimination
  • Standing for extended periods and bending, crouching, and kneeling
