Event Day Assistant

Join the Douglas College team as an Event Day Assistant and contribute to the success of our Athletics and Recreation department events. As a key member of our event team, you will assist in the delivery of high-quality events, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a best-in-class experience for our students, employees, and community.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with event setup and teardown, including staging, flags, tents, tables, chairs, and technical equipment.
  • Support concession sales, ticket sales, and promotions, including cash handling and inventory management.
  • Provide game-day support, including scorekeeping, stats tracking, and webstreaming.
  • Assist with crowd management and event safety.
  • Collaborate with event staff to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for attendees.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment as required.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Eligibility:

Domestic students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for this position:

  • Be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College throughout the work term.
  • Have been enrolled in and maintained a minimum of one or more (3 credit) courses at Douglas College in the term immediately preceding the work term and have indicated an intention to enroll at the college in the term immediately following the work term.

International students must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for this position:

  • Be enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College throughout the academic year.
  • Have a valid Study Permit that has the notation – "May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (F), (V) or (W). Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria."
