Job Title: Student Assistant, Community Relations

About the Role

Douglas College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Assistant to support the Community Relations team in planning and executing events. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with event planning, coordination, and execution, as well as providing support to the team with event promotion, setup, and teardown.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing internal and external events, including coordinating logistics, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Community Relations team to brainstorm creative event concepts and elements.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of event documents, spreadsheets, and other related materials.
  • Assist with event promotion, including social media and email marketing.
  • Provide support with event setup, including hanging signage, setting up equipment, and arranging decor.
  • Assist with event teardown, including disassembling furniture, packing items, and disposing of garbage.
  • Participate in post-event activities, including gathering feedback and event data, and counting inventory.

Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move event equipment.

Eligibility Criteria

Douglas College students meeting the eligibility criteria will be given first preference. International students must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in full-time studies at Douglas College, or be an international student at another accredited public post-secondary institution in B.C. with a valid Study Permit.
