About the Role
Douglas College is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Assistant to support the Community Relations team in planning and executing events. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with event planning, coordination, and execution, as well as providing support with event promotion and logistics.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning and executing internal and external events, including setup, execution, and tear-down.
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm creative event concepts and elements.
- Contribute to the maintenance of event documents, spreadsheets, and volunteer forms.
- Assist with event promotion, including social media and email marketing.
- Provide onsite support, including working with volunteers, greeting guests, and restocking items.
- Assist with event tear-down and packing, including disassembling furniture and disposing of garbage.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to lift and move event equipment.
Douglas College students meeting the eligibility criteria will be given first preference. International students must have a valid Study Permit with the notation – "May accept employment on or off campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (F), (V) or (W). Must cease working if no longer meeting these criteria."
