Day Program Recreation Worker

We are seeking a Day Program Recreation Worker to provide social and recreational activities for clients in a hospital setting.
The Day Program Recreation Worker will perform a variety of social and recreational activities for assigned clients, including mental aerobics, music, cooking, and special events. They will also assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting, and report observations of client behavior and progress to the Nurse.
**Responsibilities:**
• Carry out individual and group activities, such as mental aerobics, music, cooking, and special events
• Stimulate former interests of clients through discussion groups, speakers, and magazines
• Teach new skills of daily living, including safety in the home
• Assist clients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and toileting
• Report observations of client behavior and progress to the Nurse
• Communicate concerns and/or client difficulties to the Nurse
**Qualifications:**
• Grade 12, plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program
• Completion of recognized recreation courses
• One (1) year recent related experience
• Current Food Safe I certificate
**Skills and Abilities:**
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
• Ability to teach
• Ability to organize work
• Ability to operate related equipment
