Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process medication orders in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Verify prescriptions for completeness and authenticity, and ensure that medications are accurately dispensed to patients.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and packaging medications, as well as compounding sterile pharmaceutical products.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions by verifying order entries and performing final checks.
  • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence, including reviewing, translating, and converting existing medication orders.
  • Enter and maintain accurate records of medication verification and quality assurance checks.
  • Maintain inventory and ward stock levels, and fill requisitions as needed.
  • Identify outdated medications for return or destruction, and ensure that stock is properly labeled and stored.
  • Perform related clerical duties, including keyboarding, answering phone calls, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to keyboard and operate related equipment, including software applications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
