Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process medication orders in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
  • Verify prescriptions for completeness and authenticity, and ensure that all necessary information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions, including counting, measuring, packaging, and compounding medications as required.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions, and perform final checks as necessary.
  • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence, and transfer prescriptions to and from other pharmacies as required.
  • Enter and maintain accurate records of medication verification and quality assurance checks.
  • Maintain inventory and ward stock levels, and fill requisitions as necessary.
  • Identify and return or destroy outdated medications, and ensure that all medications are stored and handled in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform related clerical duties, including keyboarding, answering phones, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The successful candidate will also be required to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and to work in a manner that is consistent with the values and mission of Fraser Health.
