Job Summary

School District #63 (Saanich) is seeking a qualified Indigenous Support Teacher to join our on-call list. This position requires a strong commitment to supporting the educational needs of Indigenous students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic and cultural support to Indigenous students in a variety of settings
  • Develop and implement culturally responsive instructional strategies
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to ensure the needs of Indigenous students are met
  • Provide leadership and guidance to colleagues on Indigenous education and cultural awareness
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local Indigenous communities and organizations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Two years of successful classroom experience
  • Knowledge of local Saanich Indigenous Communities
  • Significant leadership experience in Indigenous education and cultural awareness
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing connections and partnerships with Indigenous Communities
  • Effective communication and administrative skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Indigenous ancestry
  • Knowledge of local history and culture
