Intensive Care Nurse Specialist

The RAH ICU is a 29-bed unit characterized by high acuity and high occupancy. This unit provides evidence-based services within an inter-disciplinary team model.
Salary
The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $76,648 to $93,156, based on experience.
Job Description
This Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in a critical care setting. The successful candidate will perform a variety of nursing duties and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families, to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services
- Care for critically ill patients from various programs, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecologic, neurosurgical, and trauma
- Administer nursing care safely and effectively, according to hospital policies and nursing care standards
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes and improvements in quality care
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- A minimum 1-year recent adult critical care nursing experience
- Certification and experience in countershock, care of the neurosurgical patient, emergency cardiac arrest management, transcutaneous and transvenous pacemakers, advanced hemodynamic management, massive transfusions, and trauma
Preferred Qualifications:
- ACLS, TNCC, CNA Critical Care Certification, intermittent hemodialysis, and/or CRRT certifications
- Past participation and experience with Quality Improvement initiatives and demonstrated ongoing Professional Development related to Critical Care
- Experience working with diverse communities or groups
