About the Role
Community Builders is seeking a skilled Financial Controller to oversee various financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to support the company's financial objectives and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage financial statements, reports, and budgets to ensure timely and accurate submissions.
- Budgeting Process: Lead the community builders budgeting process, providing guidance and support to senior leadership and project managers on financial matters.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow and related forecasting to ensure the organization's financial stability.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger management.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting principles, standards, and regulations, and investigate any accounting issues that arise.
- Financial Planning: Participate in financial planning and analysis, providing insights to support decision-making.
- Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Internal Controls: Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and procedures.
- Audits and Reviews: Coordinate and support audits, tax filings, and other financial reviews.
- Liaison: Serve as a liaison to external accountants and auditors.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and drive efficiency.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff members within the finance department.
- Ad Hoc Analysis: Perform ad hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
- Funding and Construction Budgets: Manage funding and construction budgets in QuickBooks Online and Construction Online, including reconciliations upon completion and regular project reporting.
- Annual Returns: Finalize and submit annual returns.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably in a construction environment.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Desktop; advanced Excel skills required.
- Personal Qualities: Excellent analytical skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
