Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Instructor to teach our Legal Office Administration program, which is registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will be required to follow our college's policies and procedures.
The Instructor Manual provides courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans. The Instructor is responsible for following the provided instructor manuals and using resource materials to train students with the required knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field.
We emphasize professional conduct, combined with excellence in classroom instruction, with primary emphasis on hands-on training.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field
- Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials
- Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects
- Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students
- Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students' progress according to guidelines and procedures
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly
- Provide feedback on student performance
- Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course
- Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment
- Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude
- Maintain attendance records accurately
- Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at the end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources
- Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information
- Stay current in the subject matter through professional development
- Display an attitude of teamwork and problem-solving
- Perform other related duties as required
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems
- Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to different learning styles
- Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model
- Immigration experience is an asset
- Two years of working experience as a Paralegal
- One year of teaching experience is preferred
Estimated Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum
