Key Responsibilities

The Chief Software Engineering Architect is responsible for taking on complex technical and customer challenges to create best-in-class products backed by great systems at Remitly Inc.

We use cutting-edge languages, tools, and frameworks to build applications and services based on scalable cloud architecture. Our startup work environment is mission-driven and growing quickly.

About the Role:

This role will contribute to engineering strategy, improve recruiting and cultural practices, and oversee diverse projects across the Customer Success engineering team. As a leader in the Customer Success engineering team, you will manage a team of engineers while growing the careers of team members and shaping the engineering culture of Remitly as a whole.

To succeed in this role, you will lead a team of engineers to launch the next-gen Customer Success platform replacing the current CRM application. You will partner with product managers and cross-functional stakeholders to execute both strategic and tactical roadmaps.

Your Key Tasks Will Include:

  • Providing Technical Leadership and leading complex, long-term, cross-team engineering efforts.
  • Partnering with product managers to understand requirements, translate these requirements into technical tasks, and ensure the engineering team delivers the expected outcome.
  • Setting a high bar for planning and execution, including quarterly goals, resource allocation, and prioritization.
  • Being a role model in upholding Remitly's cultural values and using them as a framework to mentor other engineers across the company to achieve their full potential.
  • Managing the system of work of one product team with a DevOps mindset.
  • Making appropriate tradeoffs between schedule, features, and helping the team make sound technical decisions.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience required.

A minimum of 8 years of experience, including 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role.

Experience leading core engineering efforts, technical teams, and building diverse, empowered teams.

Experience defining and influencing technical designs and processes across a team.

An understanding of software development practices, system design, software design patterns, and algorithms.

Familiarity with technologies used in the project (one or more): Java, JavaScript, Go, TypeScript, React, and Kotlin.

The estimated salary range for this position is $136,000-$170,000 per year.
