Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Low Vision Specialist to join our team at Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals with vision loss to regain independence and improve their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive functional low vision assessments to identify individual needs and develop personalized rehabilitation plans.
  • Teach individuals with vision loss how to maximize their residual vision and adapt to their unique challenges.
  • Recommend and train individuals in the use of optical and non-optical aids, including assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Provide education and support to individuals and their families on vision health, low vision services, and related topics.
  • Liaise with community-based rehabilitation teams, agencies, schools, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of individualized rehabilitation plans.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as health care or vision, or equivalent experience.
  • ACVREP certification or eligibility for certification.
  • High level of competency in relevant computer applications, including assistive technology.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and math skills, with proficiency in French an asset.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, travel, and provide services in office centers, individual homes, and the community.
