Job Summary

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legislative Advisor to provide expert advice on and implement strategies for review of departmental legislation and other assigned special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on legislative analysis, coordination, development, and implementation to ensure that statutes and regulations administered by the Department of Infrastructure are consistent with Executive Council direction and federal legislation.
  • Coordinate responses regarding varied legal and policy issues that arise related to legislation and departmental activities in general.
  • Recommend courses of action to mitigate risks and provide strategic policy advice.
  • Collaborate with the Policy, Planning, and Communications Division to coordinate the development of new policy and legislative initiatives.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in business/public administration, public relations, law, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years of broad professional experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of legislation, writing and researching formal advisory and decision documents, and providing complex advice and analysis to senior levels of government.
