About the Role

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Legislation Division to join our team. As a key member of our Department of Justice, you will play a critical role in shaping the legislative framework of our territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective legislative policies and procedures to support the Department's mandate.
  • Provide expert advice to senior officials on legislative matters, including bill drafting and analysis.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that legislation is aligned with community and indigenous values.
  • Manage and coordinate the legislative process, including bill tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including MLAs, community leaders, and other government departments.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Law, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legislative affairs, policy development, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective legislative policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide expert advice on complex legislative matters.
