Your Opportunity:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Unit 35 (Rehabilitation) and the Area Manager Allied Health Red Deer Regional Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of adult clients with swallowing and communication difficulties in two clinical settings: Unit 35 Inpatient Rehabilitation (3 days per week) and Rural Communities (1 – 2 communities served 2 days per week).

Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in the planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical professional practice in rehabilitation settings
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver rehabilitation services
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
  • Supervise students and provide clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in clinical and instrumental (VFSS) swallowing assessment and treatment
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of adult clients experiencing acquired communication impairments
  • Experience working in rehabilitation preferred
