Clinical Speech Language Pathologist

Opportunity Overview:
This role is integral to the management of adult patients facing challenges with swallowing and communication. The successful applicant will engage in two primary clinical environments: Inpatient Rehabilitation, where collaboration within an interdisciplinary team is essential for delivering client-focused, intensive rehabilitation for individuals with neurological conditions, and Rural Community Services, where the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide comprehensive care across various settings including acute care, long-term care, outpatient rehabilitation, supportive living, and home care.
Role Responsibilities:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will be expected to deliver clinical services both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Prevention and health promotion initiatives.
- Identification, assessment, and intervention for clients.
- Case management and service coordination.
You will actively participate in the planning and delivery of rehabilitation services, working closely with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. Your leadership abilities will be crucial in supervising students and providing clinical mentorship to colleagues as needed. Your clinical expertise will contribute to ongoing quality enhancement, service integration, and program development.
Essential Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required, along with an active or eligible registration and practice permit from the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in clinical and instrumental swallowing assessments and treatments, along with experience in evaluating and treating adult clients with acquired communication disorders, particularly in stroke and neurology cases. Previous experience in rehabilitation settings is also preferred.
