About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Law Administrator to join our Legal Department based in Toronto. As a key member of the Commercial team, you will play a vital role in assisting with commercial, ESG, and communications matters.

This is an excellent opportunity to hone your skills, explore new areas, and work closely with other members of the legal team. You will have the chance to make a tangible impact on central initiatives and gain exposure across all levels of the organization.

Our ideal candidate has prior experience at a law firm or in-house at a corporation or national organization in a clerk or legal operations role. They possess strong budget management skills, including facility with Excel, and effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Commercial team with commercial/contract, ESG, government relations/regulatory, and communications matters.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and working efficiencies in partnership with the Commercial and broader legal team.
  • Build and manage precedent and template documents and augment similar existing department resources.
  • Manage the outside counsel invoicing system and help ensure the team stays within allocated outside counsel budget.
  • Foster trust and work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Requirements
  • Prior experience at a law firm or in-house at a corporation or national organization in a clerk or legal operations role.
  • Licensed as a paralegal, a law clerk designation, or equivalent law clerk education is a plus.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies, including AI tools, and standard workplace technologies, including Teams and Sharepoint.
  • Experience in managing a website and/or overseeing matter management protocols or self-service tools is a plus.
  • Strong budget management skills, including facility with Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment with a self-starter mentality and ability to learn quickly.
  • Bilingualism is a significant advantage.
