Are you a highly skilled lawyer with a passion for commercial law? We are seeking a Commercial Law Specialist to join our team at McDonald's Canada. As a key member of our Legal Department, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic legal advice and guidance to our business teams.

About the Role

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, managing outside counsel spend, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure maximum protection of the brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and advise on general commercial contracts, including for McDelivery.
  • Draft and advise on technology-related contracts and support work related to the McDonald's Global Mobile Application.
  • Assist with franchising-related sale transactions and acquisitions, as required.
  • Manage outside counsel spend and litigation matters.
  • Maintain current subject matter expertise on all areas of law relevant to the position.

Requirements

  • A legal designation from an accredited university (e.g., LL.B or J.D.).
  • Member in good standing of a law society in Canada.
  • At least 5 years of legal practice in the areas of commercial and technology law.
  • Strong persuasion and written communication skills, including negotiation and policy drafting.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, with proven proficiency in managing multiple high-priority projects.
