Job Title: Assistant Director, Public Engagement

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Assistant Director, Public Engagement. In this role, you will play a key part in developing and implementing effective public engagement strategies across the government, working closely with ministries and stakeholders to build meaningful connections with Albertans.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement whole-of-government public engagement capacity, working closely with ministries and stakeholders to build effective engagement strategies.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Director and ministries on public engagement methodologies, tools, and approval processes.
  • Lead a team of engagement experts, providing day-to-day management and guidance on public engagement advice and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of systems and processes to ensure public engagement activities are coordinated, accessible, and effective.
  • Design and deliver internal training sessions and share best engagement practices with staff across all levels and departments.
  • Lead the procurement of public engagement vendors and tools, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with Communications and Public Engagement colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in public engagement, policy development, and stakeholder relations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to guide and develop a team of engagement experts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, with a focus on developing effective public engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of government policies, programs, and services, with a focus on public engagement and stakeholder relations.
