About the Opportunity

The Clinical Therapist will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to adults with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders. The therapist will work within a Stepped Care framework and practice will be guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician will participate in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments.

The Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You
  • You will have a Master's Degree in a clinical health-related discipline and current registration with the relevant provincial regulatory body or be eligible.
  • You will have a minimum of two years' related experience, including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning.
  • You will have in-depth and critical understanding of the principles of harm reduction, the dynamics of addiction, and evidence-based interventions for the treatment of addiction.
  • You will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders.
  • You will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual/group cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psycho-educational groups.
  • You will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention.
  • You will have demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • You will have basic competencies in relation to identifying and treating concurrent mental health and substance use disorders.
  • You will have experience in interviewing, counseling, and teaching health concepts to individuals, families, and groups.
  • You will have demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living with mental illness and addiction.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.

Hours
  • This is a permanent part-time position with 37.5 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist: $37.31 - $49.05 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental): $33.27 - $42.01 hourly
